Conscious consumerism, without breaking the bank!

Sustainable products can be created repeatedly without negative environmental effects or compromising the wellbeing of workers or communities. Organic products are an example of this in the agriculture industry.

One of the first questions people ask me when I talk about operating a sustainable business is: "Isn't that going to be expensive?"

My response: "It doesn't have to be!"

Sure, some things have a sticker price that appears more expensive on the surface, but often times, sustainable products and services can be very competitively priced. So far, all of the sustainable measures we have taken have actually been equal to or less expensive than something done the conventional way.

Here are some ways we are already a "green" business, we hope it inspires you to take small actions to green your home or office.

  • Our bank checks are printed on recycled paper with soy ink.

  • This website is powered entirely with clean wind power for just $10 month.

  • The software used to build our site is a FREE open-source content management platform.

  • The photos you see on on this site were purchased for $1 each from photographers around the world - we are paying actual people, instead of a large corporation.

  • Instead of buying a vinyl banner with our logo on it for upcoming events, we've decided to make one ourselves using hemp & organic cotton. It will cost us about $60 to make the banner, roughly the same as going to a sign shop, but the material can be reused over and over again & biodegrades light years ahead of vinyl!
(Please note, I have changed the link to a different company than the one I used. They are in the midst of a family crisis and the ordering process may take longer than some people would expect. Excellent quality, though, so if you have some lead time, go for it.)
