10.18.07 Taste of Thornton Park
Holy Tomatoes! We won 2nd place for Best Food at the Taste of Thornton Park last week. That's right folks, Dexter's took 1st, but we are honored that our food was recognized as we were in some very fancy company with Midnight Blue, HUE, The Beacon, City Fish and a bunch of other GREAT local restaurants in competition! Huge thanks to Sandra Diaz, vegan menu creatress extraordinaire and the flexitarian judges who were smitten with our organic, homemade food! Shucks, we didn't even bring any chili with us! Ha ha ha ha ha...next year we'll take 'em by surprise with our secret weapon!

The best places to eat, though, aren't in the heart of the neighborhood, rather up in the Little Saigon area. The best known is, well, Little Saigon, perfect for pho, but I prefer to hang out at the ridiculously named but very lovable Dandelion Communitea Cafe, a vegan-friendly but not humorless joint serving a suck-it-down veggie chili and brilliant, rough-around-the-edges but super-tasty hummus. And vegan chocolate cake, also, which I can report was quite good.

05.17.07 Restaurant Review: "Tea Totally: Urban Teahouse is steeped in eco-attitude" Orlando Weekly
"Dandelion has blossomed along a decaying tract of urban wasteland, attracting a broad cross-section of society, from tea-totaling nonconformists to closet neo-con herbivores and everyone in between. A Mother-Earthy, bohemian vibe infuses the main room, with thrift-store furnishings and a curtained ceiling in all its Good Morning Starshine glory adding additional flavor." Here's a dandy little teahouse for the mellow set. It's called Dandelion Communitea Cafe. It's the sort of place for people who, when I was growing up, were hippies. Before that they were beatniks or bohemians. Now they're just young people with an "eco-attitude." ....Read the Review & don't forget to rate us online!

"The flower-power, Mother-Earthy, Bohemian vibe infuses the parlor like orange pekoe in H2O, with thrift-store sofas, recycled furnishings, off-the-wall art and a curtained ceiling resembling rays of the sun."
03.13.06 Local Entrepreneur Seeks Fair Trade - No Free Trade Orlando Business Journal
"I consider myself an eco-entreprenuer, and Fair Trade goes hand-in-hand with what I'm doing...I call it voting with your dollars. It's not just about how it affects you, but how it affects things up the supply chain."
03.09.06 "Cafe Society" Orlando Weekly
"I was sitting with a friend and thinking, 'What can I do?'" she says. "My friend told me, 'You won't figure it out until you get it: that it's not about you, it's about the people you would affect.' When he said that, it just clicked."
