Ingredients

Agave Nectar (ah-GAH-vay): While agave is best recognized as the plant from which tequila is made, it has also been used for thousands of years and was prized by the Aztecs as a gift from the gods. The Standard American Diet is dominated by refined sweeteners such as granulated sugar and corn syrup. The problem with these substances is their high glycemic index which raises blood sugar quickly, releasing insulin and may be responsible for current diabetes epidemic. Agave has a low glycemic index, and sweetens without a “sugar rush” or subsequent “crash.” It is similar to honey, but has a mellower flavor and dissolves quickly in hot or cold water, making it the perfect sweetener for your tea! We use an organic agave.

Almond Butter: Like peanut butter, except even more delicious & nutritious. Protein dense almonds are a very good source of vitamin E, manganese, magnesium, copper, riboflavin (vitamin B2), and phosphorus. Fortunately, although one-quarter cup of almonds contains about 18 grams of fat, most of it (11 grams) is heart-healthy monounsaturated fat.

Hemp Seeds: An impressive 33 percent of the hemp nut is high-quality protein, providing all essential amino acids in a reasonable balance, making it an attractive component of a meat-free diet. Hemp also contains significant amounts of the vitamin E complex and trace minerals such as magnesium, iron, and manganese. They are valued primarily for the exceptional fatty acid composition of their oil, which makes up 30 percent of the whole seed and 44 percent of the nut. Studies link many common ailments to an imbalance and deficiency of essential fatty acids (EFAs) in the typical Western diet: too much omega-6 and not enough omega-3. Consuming sufficient omega-3 in the right EFA ratio has impressive benefits, including: reducing cholesterol, reducing the risk of atherosclerosis and sudden cardiac death, reducing the need for insulin among diabetics, decreasing the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, promoting mood improvement in bipolar disorders, and optimizing development in infants. Hemp seeds are not marijuana and will not get you high.

Nutritional Yeast contains 18 amino acids (forming the complete protein) and 15 minerals. Being rich in the B-complex vitamins, it is vital in many ways and particularly good for stress reduction. One element of yeast is the trace mineral chromium, also known as the Glucose Tolerance Factor (GTF). This is necessary to regulate blood sugar and is important for diabetics and people with a tendency toward low blood sugar.
